There's always silver lining

Yes, today I'm back to work, after a week being a hospital residence. The chronology :

1. My eldest daughter, Ilhan

Admitted Sunday (24th May), after long vomitting series. Discharged Wednesday. But still on medication until today. Still having fever, although she said she's ok. She's in Atuk's house anyway, having fun touring Malaysia (demam pun buat2 tak demam)

2. The cheeky daughter, Masyitah

Not admitted, but having also having fever, on and off. She's a tough kid. On medication until now. Also with Atuk at his home.

3. The boy, Ammar

Admitted since Tuesday (26th May). He's been having fever before that, but Tuesday night, his body temperature reached 40 deg. Intolerable. And, he'll reached 40 deg each night, until Friday. He's doing ok yesterday and today, so he might be discharged today.

4. The father, Shahrun

Oh yes, just when I monitored that Ammar is no longer having fever, his father sneeze and complaining that the weather is too cold. Shahrun's temp fluctuates from 37deg to 38deg. Doctor forbids him from going to the office, saying "now, would u like all ur colleague to be infected by u ?"

5. The all time beauty, heheh

Still healthy, lucky me and lucky us. At least I'm there to take care of my family.

Perhaps, this is the God's way of rinsing away our sins ?

Bibik no more

Remember when I wrote about my sick maid? Turn out that she has diabetic, quite a critical one. Sugar level = 18.1, which is high and she had a swollen tummy which need to be operated. She refused to do so, saying that she'd prefer to be sent back home; it's her call so we agreed.

And we'll not replace her.

For the record, her medical expenses reached RM1K. General Hospital did not charge cheap to foreigners, ok. The best part is, it has to be beared by employer. Senyum.

So expect me to be in good shape back (muahahaha, prasan!), since i need to do all the house chores back. I have always forget to take my dinner, whenever i'm tired and occupied. So, boleh prepare kebaya lagi for this year's raya.

Tapi, I'll have limited time to exercise. (Padahal dulu masa ada maid, sikit aku tak exercise). No more Penang Hill's climbing weekends, unless hubby agreed to take turns with the kids. I guess, I could get some Yoga DIY DVD or Paula Abdul's exercise DVD and dance away with my kids.

Best jugak kan?

the glass is still half full

quoted from Master Oogway (Kungfu Panda) :

Yesterday was a memory,
Tomorrow will be a mystery,
and today, is a gift,
That's why it is called, the present.

How nice.

So yesterday, I had to take emergency leave, my maid is sick.

Tomorrow,
hopefully she'll get well, no mystery though if she is still
sick, it's nice to have your boss cook and bring food in your room (room
service).

and today, the kids are all in nursery.
A gift indeed. I'm thankful.
At least the kids could learn more and mingle with lots of friends
At least I could wake up early and do the morning hassle most mum/wife would do,
At least hubby could start to help me again with the milk, the diapers the daily house trash.

the day when i squeeze all the energy out!

The trip to Kinabalu (both Kota and Mount), was unbelieavable. (owh, gambar tgk kat fotopages eh?

Generally :

- we depart by Air Asia - the very first flight hubby board (minus the one he took when he was 1 yr old)

- The total cost of 5 days 5 nights was just RM1.2K per head (inclusive of accomodation, flight tickets, climbing permit, car rental, fuel, food and shopping, bagus kan aku?)

- Sri intan Kundasang is cheap! - for T* staff, it's RM30 per day. And for those who'd like to climb the great Kinabalu, Sri Intan is just 20 minutes drive from Timpohon and Mersilau gate.

- Train before you climb.

- Seafood are cheap, get it from the local wet market.

- Poring Hot Water and Canopy Walk is a must go place.

- I have to loose some weight, susah nak panjat gunung!

The great Kinabalu climb

- Climbers has 2 option to start the climb :

  • Via Timpohon Gate : most people will take this route. The route are mostly upward and shorter than Mersilau.

  • Via Mersilau Gate : Longer by more than 2Km from the Timpohon route. But the scenary is just fantastic. The route - naik, turun, naik, turun.. jaga kaki!

We took the Mersilau route anyway, not because aku eksyen nak route yg lebih challenging, but most of our group members has already climb tru Timpohon, they want something new. Aku ikut je.

- Anyway, the Mersilau trail is beautiful. The mist, the trees, the path, the flowers.

- Pass your heavy bag pack to the mountain guide (malim), and pay them. So u could enjoy the climb. Jgn jadi aku yg bawa bag berat pastu sakit belakang.

- I realized that I had problem with high altitude. At around 3 km away from gate, I felt dizzy and nausea. Makan panadol sebijik then baru boleh sambung. At 5 km, my fingers swallow, liquids dripping off my ears and nose - pelik kan? At 8.5 KM (a few meters away from peak), jgn cerita lah!

- We have to stop at Laban Rata, and spend a night there - for we can only climb to the peak early morning (2 am /3am). I start my climb from Mersilau at 8:30am and reach Laban Rata at 5:30pm - dekat 10 jam! (around KM)

- Upon reaching Laban Rata, its already dinner time. Don't worry, the food is included in our climbing package, plus it's buffet, eat all u want.

- We spent our night at Gunting Lagadan hut. The night was extremely cold (for me at least). At least, the temperature must have reached 0 degree. For those who can't stand the cold weather (macam aku), bring your sleeping bag together. It helps, and we need to get some sleep, for some energy to climb back at 3 am.

- I vommit, during my sleep, on my bed. Shahrun keep telling me, to not go for the peak. Yeah right, I have another 2.5KM to go, nak stop ke?

- We start our climb at 3:30am, 1 hr late from the other climbers. Why? Because we do not want to rush with the other climbers. But I actually feel I should start earlier, I'm a slow climber.

- The peak trail, was almost all rocky. I have to use my 4 wheel drive (tangan, kaki) to climb. Everything seemed so cold, even with the 2 layered clothing, and socks. So cold even to walk.

- Most of the climbers has already climb down, but I need to reach the top.

- I am another 100m to reach top when my husband told me to stop, the wind was strong and I can't hardly open my eyes. So I stop, hampir nangis, tolong lah sampai the peak!

- About 300m walk after that, I felt very-very tired. And I wish to stop and have a rest. Once I sit, I felt lost. Aku pengsan.

- Luckily my hubby notice that I'm very slow, so he went back and saw me, unconcious. He called the mountain guide, and they transported me down using a stretcher until Gunting Lagadan's hut.

Such an experience, sebab memang takde org lain dapat turun guna stretcher dan diangkat mountain guide. Haha.

Anyway, I did get the certs, 2 certs (1 for climbing via Mersilau, one for reaching the peak). Note : eventhough i did not reach the peak, certs are given to all climbers that reached until Sayat-Sayat hut (another around 500m to peak). But I am so glad I could even see the peak from 100M away. And i'm glad that i also did saw all the other peak : South Peak, Ugly sister peak, Donkey's Ear peak.

But, Mt Kinabalu, wait again for me. I'll be coming back to kick your peak. This time, I'll remember to drink water, just wait!
